Built on Daiwa’s incredibly strong Dyna Rigid Frame this ultra light baitcaster is no ultra light in performance. The compact super metal frame supports one of the toughest gears ever, the ultra light and tough Air Metal gear and pinion gear mesh perfectly and create cranking power like never before, especially when you are driving it with Daiwa’s original designed swept carbon handle design. This design is so light and strong, the swept design brings the balance point closer to the reels centre for a more balanced feel.

The Alphas is able to cast the lightest lures with ease thanks to the free floating lightweight aluminium spool and Magforce V magnetic cast control system. The free floating spool is unlike other reels, most reels have pinion gear constantly riding the spool shaft, Daiwa’s unique system floats the spool independently on precision, stainless steel ball bearings. Because the pinion rides its own separate shaft, the spool spins freely, unhampered by gear train friction when casting. Magforce V is Daiwa’s unique magnetic anti-backlash control. It combines the best attributes of old-fashioned mechanical braking with today’s advanced magnetic braking technology. As you start a cast, spool’s inductor cup is retracted from the magnets—so there’s no magnetic effect to slow the spool. Start-up is lightning fast. As spool approaches maximum speed, inductor cup automatically moves into the gap between the magnets to apply smooth magnetic braking and prevent spool overrun. As spool begins to slow, the inductor cup automatically retracts from the magnets—so the spool keeps spinning longer, unhampered by magnetic braking.
